DPD AND STOREBOX

By using Storebox-locations DPD can offer customers 24/7 delivery- and pick-up-options.

DPD is Austria's leading private parcel service and part of DPDgroup, the largest international parcel network in Europe. Founded in 1988 as the first private parcel service, DPD relies on the logistics infrastructure of its partners - Austria's leading forwarding companies Gebrüder Weiss, Lagermax and Schachinger. DPD Austria offers first-class services for national and international parcel distribution. Around 1,700 logistics experts work within the DPD network across Austria. The company has a transport fleet of 1,500 vehicles that transported more than 66.5 million packages in 2021. The DPD pickup network now includes 2,300 pickup locations (parcel shops and stations) all over Austria. With innovative technologies, local know-how and first-class customer service, DPD offers the best possible parcel services for senders and recipients.

Challenges

The continuing e-commerce boom and the consumer behavior that has changed permanently due to the pandemic towards more online shopping leads to steadily increasing parcel volumes

Inner-city access restrictions and limited parking spaces lead to great challenges on the last mile

End customers’ expectations of parcel service providers are constantly rising (free shipping, fast delivery, CO2 neutrality, flexibly selectable pick-up points, etc.)

Multiple delivery attempts and deposits at parcel-shops because recipients are often not available or present at the specified delivery address

In order to cope with the increase in parcel deliveries, innovative and new solutions are needed in the logistics infrastructure sector. This resulted in a cooperation between DPD and the scale-up Storebox, which specialises in inner-city storage spaces.

For DPD, the Storebox parcel walls are an ideal way to offer even more convenience to the receiving customer and to be able to handle the increasing OOH parcel volume on the last mile in an efficient and uncomplicated way.

Due to the integration of Storebox parcel walls into DPD's delivery system, several orders whose deliveries were unsuccessful can be processed together and deposited collectively at Storebox locations. This leads to significant efficiency benefits in the form of saved journeys, which results in a reduction in costs and CO2 emissions.

In the event of undeliverable parcels, depositing the order in Storebox parcel walls - that are accessible at all times and have a dense network of locations - leads to advantages for DPD and end customers. Delivery to a Storebox also enhances the user experience, as no individual opening hours or holidays have to be taken into account.

RESULTS

How you can benefit from Storebox Last Mile Logistics

Our smart pick-up stations enable a contactless and time-flexible handover of parcels and goods of all kinds. The use of Click & Collect solutions makes life easier for both sides: Suppliers benefit from the optimised route and time, while customers enjoy greater convenience thanks to the flexible ordering and collection options.

By using and integrating smart parcel walls with automated order and locker management, the delivery process for online orders can be made easier for both end customers and companies.

In addition, it is also possible to use our parcel walls as a shop-in-shop solution and install them, for example, in or in front of or next to an existing branch. This measure enhances the value of stationary business areas and can positively influence customer frequency.

Benefit from the fastest growing inner-city storage network in Europe!
